I've written a few times now on this blog Instead, the history of Westeros is valued and discussed by the characters in the story: They talk about it, read it, record it, and remember it, or forget it as the case may be. Martin's first novel in his Song of Ice and Fire series, A Game of Thrones, something I've been trying to do since I first bought the book in 2007. Feb 28, 2014 - In preparation for the fourth season of the HBO TV series Game of Thrones, premiering April 6, I've decided to write a series of posts on A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. Apr 29, 2011 - He had sped through the four existent novels (about 800-1,000 pages apiece) that make up the A Song of Ice and Fire series (a fifth book is forthcoming), and even got his girlfriend hooked too. Martin's book series the show is based on. It could have been far shorter, or we could always get to the story of the Wildings and the White Walkers later. Tolkien's Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. More detail we should share: after some recent fluctuation, I'm told a full and final title has been settled on this past week after discussion: The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones. Anyone who has read their way through all George RR Martin's pleasingly epic 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series, on which the show is based, will know that the world, the realms, the history and the families of the stories extend way beyond what could be seen in a mere TV show. As Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire enters into that immortal area that the greats like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings have dwelled in for years, I've been wondering: But the common thread binding this fragmented world together is the fragmented story of these “broken” characters, and I get the sense somehow, that if there can be peace in the end, those characters can accomplish it.
